Demented Universe

By: Stephanie MacDonald

Demented universe with winding roads,
to where they lead, nobody knows.

This is the place where betrayal is favor.

Tasting all that which has no flavor,
Inhaling scents absent of smell

and disregard is wishing well.
Demented universe with darkness so bright,
where right is wrong and left is right
Feeling for everything that is without touch.

and too much is never enough.
Looking for all that cannot be seen.

Even in filth we call ourselves clean.
Demented universe that has no sun,
Unable to walk or move or run.
Attempting to speak when there is no voice.

and freewill is forced illusion of choice
Listening for everything that has no sound

And floating in space without leaving the ground.
A demented universe with winding roads,
to where they lead, nobody knows.
